Looking for a Guard Goose in Ohio and Questions!

Hello! I have a couple of questions, but first off, I have a mixed flock of 22 nearly 10 week old chickens and 6 5 week old ducks. I have a permanent set up for all of them together that is covered with netting over the top, as well as a chickshaw mobile coop with electric netting and a solar charger for taking them around to parts of our property to free-range and help prep my future garden areas. We are surrounded by forest on all sides, and although I have a couple of roosters, I am very interested in getting a guard goose to help prevent aerial predator attacks while they are out in the uncovered mobile setup. I have heard that you only need 1 goose to accomplish this, otherwise the goose will be more interested in its fellow geese than integrating into the flock with the chickens. Does that apply to the ducks in the group as well?

Also, I am having great difficulty finding anyone who has geese except the large hatcheries, which only sell them in multiples and don't have any available now until May- not to mention ordering a small amount of 2 or 3 from them costs more for shipping than the actual price of the geese! Is there anyone near to Ohio that has any goslings or hatching eggs I could buy? I could definitely do 2 of them since I have a neighbor who also has a flock of chickens who has expressed interest in having a guard goose as well if it would help them keep the hawks and owls from getting to their birds.

Oh, and I should mention- in particular, I am looking for a Tufted Roman in particular- or possibly a Classic Roman if they might fit the bill- pun intended! LOL

Did you look on craigslist? I just got two ducks locally by finding a farmer who posted he had ducklings for sale.

I know this is an old thread, but I just saw a video about a guard goose. I am also in Ohio.
