Thank you guys. The last two left this last friday and sat. What a crazy ride! It was fun and a great learning experience. We miss them all. We have a planned breeding for next fall to have winter puppies so we are not tied down all summer again. Symphony is in heat again so our boy is kenneled and it is going to be a long month.

Momma seems depressed.

Next fall as in like 2014 right?

A ***** really shouldn't be bred that soon again at minimum there should be a full year from when her last litter left her. It's extremely bad for both the health of the dam as well as the puppies. Most people wait more than the minimum one before breeding again

actually, there are 2 different schools of thought on this, both with research to back it up. Because the risk of pyrometra (spelling?) increases with every heat, many believe that you should breed a couple of litters and get them out of the way and then spay the female. Of course, this assumes that she is young and healthy and has recovered completely from her last litter. In a young female that bounces back quickly from giving birth, a breeder might even do 2 consecutive cycles and then spay her.
