Looking for an I.D. on these two peachicks.

He looks like a India blue black shoulder. Would be split to purple.
Not sure where the low % spalding would come into play if possible fathers are BS, emerald spalding, or Opal.
And Mama a purple.

Read it as BS spalding, must have not remembered correctly since it was at the beginning of the string.
Good catch!

yes looks like a Spalding BS male.....will be split purple.

I know you got the parents from Brad as chick...so the purple mother is split BS,. my guess your spalding could be split BS also'

thats the trouble can't tell for sure the BS if the father as either the opal or splading could be split BS.

Thanks y'all. I'm still not sure what my "blue" guy is. Sometimes he looks totally blue and other times he looks really green - depending on the light and the angle but he's the black shoulder.

Here's the Spalding:

Here's the Opal:

So these are the three possible daddies to the three peachicks I've posted. I get lost on the split to _____ parts. So what does that mean these chicks will look like when they grow up and get their true colors? I know the two pied females probably won't show much color but what about the mystery boy peachick?

Went by the posted possibilities of father listed by original post.

Spalding
Black shoulder
Opal
I assumed they knew if their males were split. (If actual father is the spalding he would have to be split to BS to produce BS).
Mother being split to BS is a given.

Our black shoulder males look like this young male at this age. We have had BS males exhibit varying degrees of neck/back blue, bluish green, to primarily green but they do not have spalding in their lineage. Really they do vary in different lighting.
When they mature out they "look" like IB black shoulder.

You all got me to thinking so I went and pulled some old photos of my BS when he was about the same age - does look very similar to my "mystery chick" but looks darker to me:

So what do I have to do to get a purple male? Can she be bred back to her son?
