Looking for Araucana Chicken hatching eggs

Anyone know where I can get some hatching eggs please?

I talked to one guy in Ca yesterday and found out during our talking that his eggs that they have for sale people were only getting 25% hatching and then he said that if both the parents have tuffed ears that the chicks died in the egg.. I guess the eggs he sends out some are from parents like these.... I don't know....

I know nothing about these birds cept that I would like to get some and put in our incubator and hatch them out to give to our neighbor who helps me with things around the place and will not take payment for his help.

He does have some of the other breed of this chicken with the tails on them but is really wanting the rumpless ones. But he can't find them...

If anyone can help me find some eggs to hatch out and hopefully get more than a 25% hatch rate I will be eternally grateful for the help.

Wow! 25% hatching I would killed my birds if that is all they produced. I had 100% almost fertility this year and a hatching rate of 75% to 90% at least. I sent eggs out last year to a very respectable breeder and he had better than that hatching rate and my fertility wasn't as good as this year was. I have dispersed of my breeders about a month ago since I have so many better replacements. I have only kept 5 breeders. I have so many lavenders this year I could not believe it. Luckily my neighbor had a male I could have back from the previous year since I lost my breeder lavender male from a unexpected injury. This is a very difficult breed to do. I generally expect only 10% of quality to either replace my present breeders or to add and that is with the other breeds. So I am happy to have soo many replacements for my Araucanas this year. But don;t count your breeders till breeding season because there are so many possibilities that could happen till the season begins. Good luck on finding some hatching eggs. There was a lady in Texas that went by Jinx if you can find her. She had killer black birds.

Yea 25% hatching rate really threw me off from him. Then to top it off he told me to get one of his roosters for 75 dollars and neighbor could breed him to his hens and get the rumbles ones... Oh OK I said... would let neighbor know this... the breeding not getting the rooster.

The best hatching I have gotten from shipped eggs were my Basque chicks... There is this guy on Ebay named Ray in Fl that sells the eggs and I have gotten 2 batch's from him The first was 6 eggs and I got 4 chicks and the 2nd was 9 eggs and I got 6 hatch from those and then Sunflower Farms I believe it is sent me 9 eggs and I got 6 hatch from those...Out of all these hatches the roosters I got were 1, 2 and 2 the rest are hens...

Am out on the net now checking for places that might have eggs....

Sorry, I did not explain I trim all my breeders the old fashion way. If not I would be lucky to get 10% fertility during the season at times. If the breeder does not trim it cost you in the end results. The breed that you bought eggs probably are very fertile without even triming so that would explain you luck with them.

What is trimming? That is a new word for me in Chicken Land

Some people trim the feathers around the vents of the males and females. I do the old fashion way of plucking them. Males get trimmed a little different than females.

Yes, trimming helps. Rumpless Araucana hens do not have tails to 'move' the saddle and rump feathers out of the way for the rooster to have access to the vent.

Sorry Late as always

Thanks for the info... still looking for some eggs to hatch out for neighbor. Sure will let him know about this trimming when we do find some eggs for hatching. Don't think he knows about it either.
