I don't think that anyone accused him of anything. He has beautiful chickens, and if I win the auction I will pay for them and take them. If not, I intend to get on his waiting list that he has started for next year. I was just a little concerned that I would be stuck with all roos especially since he wouldn't show a pic. Wha He is right though, buying as straight run is a chance you take. Rather from him or a large hatchery, there is that chance of 100 percent roos.

I just have his e-bay e-mail...that's all he gives that I know of. Anyhow, here's the last message I got from him at the end of last week:

Hi All,

I’m selling all of my Black Copper Maran’s as I’m moving out of state. These chickens were hatched on June 24th and are 5 months+ old. Some hens are already laying and some will be laying in couple of weeks. For pictures and prices, see the link below,

Please also check the prices of their eggs on eBay. They can pay back for themselves with just 2-3 dozen eggs. I cannot ship and they are for pick-up only starting end of december.

I was just saying buyer beware...
In the breed section, under the marans thread on page 63 KellyHM bought 7 straight run 6 week old bc, all look like roos, off of eggbid. The pic is no longer there but everyone agreed. I am not saying it is the same person, just have to be careful.
I am new to marans, but have been able to accutately sex them about 95%+ by 2 weeks, and about 80% at just over a week.

I am so excited, I just had to share. My Black Coppers JUST started laying this week--but although the eggs were dark, I was disappointed with the color. As careful as I had been, I expected much better! THEN today! Woohoo! I got an egg--even the right size (the first eggs were small) and it was GORGEOUS. I had to do a dance right there in the coop! I am so happy! Yay for me and my girls!

I have had four eggs this week.

yeah, the first egg can be scary! My first one was a chalky pink looking thing, so was the next one. Third one, woo hoo! deep reddish brick brown color....
