Looking for Charcoal peahen

I don't know if this is allowed in this part of the forum, but we are in need of a (preferably ) Charcoal peahen, looking for some that might be available in or near Ohio. We lost one of our two peahens today to sudden death...., and the other one is so lonely. We want to get her a companion asap, and considering that the new one will be in quarantine for a while, we need to start looking right now. If anyone knows of anything available (especially Charcoal peahens!) please let me know asap.

Are you wanting a Charcoal hen because she is sterile? I don't have any right now but I will have some young later in the year.

Yes, that's the reason, but really we'd be willing to look at other kinds, depending on the price, because our main concern is for the happiness and well being of our remaining hen. I just don't want more than 4 peafowl, and the one that just died was very broody. I imagine, though, that shipping an adult to us from where you are might be costly as well as hard on the bird...adult or young one?

This is a good time of year to ship a bird. Being in a dark box is calming on the birds and we ship with a snack, normally cucumber and grain. Box is $30 and actual postage would depend on the weight and distance but a yearling hen would be under $100.

No. I didn't say we had Charcoals now. We have India Blues. Our IB hen was very broody.

I am definitely interested, then, if I can't find any sooner. I am very worried that our remaining hen, Snap, might wander off, if she can't find her friend, so I need to continue to keep looking here, but I'll let you know if I can't find anything. Having an awful time finding one. A yearling hen would be fine. Do you have any idea about how much later in the year?

Unfortunately, this year is a much later than normal start. I have barely gotten a dozen eggs so far and last year at this time I had collected over 200 eggs. So it will be months off yet before we have chicks that can be identified as Charcoal hens. My Charcoal pen has yet to lay an egg so that can happen any week now, then another month to incubate, then a few weeks for the chicks to mature to ID the sex.
