I have a half acre run for my chickens surrounded by a 6 chain link fence. I havent lost a bird from a coyote since I put it up and got a dog but I am still worried about hawks. I was thinking of installing some bushes or foliage that my birds can hide under from the hot SW Oklahoma shade and the hungry birds of prey. Ideally I need something that protects the birds, is heat and drought tolerant and maybe provides treats for my family and the birds. Any suggestions?
