I set my eggs late last night, and we're hoping for an Easter hatch!! I set 30 Silkie eggs from 2 BYCers!! Hatchin in an LG Forced Air.

My goose eggs are still cooking along. (They take longer than chickens) but my are already set and destined for an easter weekend hatch. Glad you got your eggs!

We just put eggs in yesterday. We had a little scare this morning. It got cold last night, so this morning my husband found the incubator at 95 degrees. He put a small towel on top to help get the temps back up to 99-100. In 30 minutes my 8 year old egg turner noticed the temp was 104!!! and immediately opened the lid for a moment. Everything is back to normal. "Whew!" Will a 104 spike for 30 minutes harm our 11 eggs? I read somewhere that the eggs internal temperature takes awhile to reach the incubator temps. Is that correct? I put 3 more eggs in to be safe. Can't wait for our 1st Easter hatch.

I put 14 french BCM eggs into my bator yesterday, and I already put 21 bantam salmon faverolles eggs 3 days ago - my bator is full!! It is hova-bator still air with auto egg turner.
It's my first hatching, so I don't know if I will be successful or not, but my new advanced incubator is coming (R-com) and will try another 20 FBCM eggs within a week or two. It is fully automatic with humidity control, auto egg turn, so I just set them and wait until 21 days. Neat!
I set my hova-bator to 102F according to thermometor on top of my eggs. I saw somewhere in BYC board that if the top of the eggs' temp is 102F, it is the right temp? I am monitoring the temp at least every 2-3 hours and it's never been higher than 102F. Usually between 101F and 102F. Any comment?

I set some yesterday, too! First time in more than a decade I've incubated. They're just TJ's eggs, though, to get my renovated bator (see my Introductions post) calibrated and as sort of something to do. But I haven't been this jazzed in a LONG time. Can hardly wait to candle! I hope it works..... managed to find fertile eggs at our store down here only 4 days old. 23 eggs set and will think myself EXTREMELY lucky to get one or two.

Although I put a buzzy fan in, the incubator is actually more steady as a still air. Want to avoid those power surges. It's holding ambient temps at 100.5-101.2 and water wiggler temp at 99.7.

Good luck to all who are anticipating an Easter hatch! It is exciting, isn't it?

Your brief spike shouldn't be harmful. At the top end, a hen's body temp is 103.... So maybe like a full-on contact with hen skin? And, yes, it does take a while for internal temps to match external temps. No harm, no foul. Just an early exercise in anxiety....
