Looking for Easter Hatch Buddies!!!

We are only candling the eggs on the 7th and 14th day b/c we are turning them by hand 3x/day. We don't want to open the incubator any more than we have to. I notice my temps are good, 99.5 to 100.5 with a fan, but for the life of me can only get the humidity to 40%. Maybe this hatch will lean towards a dry incubation but its going to be fun when we have to get the humidity up for lockdown. Oooo... I can't wait til we candle. Then I'll know if I'm doing this right. "Grow baby chicks grow!!!"

I counted today as Day 2. Maybe Wed night I'll take a peak on just a couple. I'm hand turning too... My temps have been spot on 99.5-99.7 Humidity has been between 25% and 40% In previous hatches, my humidy was either really low or REALLY high, and I found if it's one or the other, better to keep it low... So I'm just

on this one!

We started our first ever batch of 14 of our own eggs. We've already had them in upside down and the temp keeps fluctuating but I think we might have it set now. Good luck with yours!!!

I'm waiting for my eggs to come then I will be setting so I'll be behind a little -
few days after Easter .
Good luck on the hatching !

OK I couldn't handle the suspense. I look at the candling pictures in the hatching chicks section and on day 4 you should see veins. My husband, kids and I are happy to see 6 or 7 definite embryos. Three we think are not fertile. The last 3 we didn't check b/c we put them in a day later, so we will wait. It was kind of hard to see anything through the brown eggs even with a mag light. We will wait til the 7th or 10th day to candle again. I have a question for anyone...when or what days can you start smelling a rotten egg? Day 7th..day 10? I really don't want a rotten egg to explode and ruin the rest. Can't you tell..I'm a newbie and this will be my 1st hatch.

I keep telling myself that. "Step away from the incubator!" What we saw, was this tiny little mass floating in the yolk with tiny little veins. We almost missed it, if we didn't know what to look for. The candling pictures make it bigger than what we saw. We're waiting for day 7 now. I hope they continue to grow into cute fuzzy chicks.

ok will someone answer this question, please. I notice some people put eggs in egg cartons pointy end down. I have my eggs on their sides like they would be under a hen. I keep toying with the idea with putting them in cartons. Does it really matter to do it now in early development or midway, like day 14? Will the chick have enough room to turn into the correct position? This reminds me of how a human baby turns before they are born and not in the breech position. Weird how my mind thinks sometimes.
