Looking for extra run

Would something like this work as a small extra run? Could It be tweaked and covered with this type of material that would allow sunlight but block rain and snow? Can’t figure out where we could attach it.

We haven’t decided if we should free range or not.
This is in your post but the comment's sound like you've ruled it out? What is your property/footprint? Fenced yard or acreage or ? Asking because if I had that coop I'd consider it to be for lock up only and everyone goes out during the day, and in that scenario the missing adequate run space isn't such an issue. Of course if you can't free-range then where everyone is going in this thread makes sense.... I have a big chain link run, about 1500sq ft. but because they free range I don't really need it, it's just a nice to have.....

Look on a local buy trade and sell for a large chain link dog run. Some people may offer it for free I you haul it off. Cover it with the pvc roofing. I have my little prefab inside my dog run. It is covered and on a cement slab. My girls are lucky enough to have run of their backyard. I know it is not an ideal solution for many. Here is my area, In the winter the dirt along the house is dryish and they still can dust bathe.

Oh I see how it is. But we wouldn’t be able to move it about the yard. If I built that, I’d feel like the coop has to stay put.
We may end up there eventually, but I really wanted to see how it would be moving them about. They’ll get such a variety of weeds and bugs that way. And their poo will fertilize my grass. That was. The dream anyway. We’ll see if we tire of it, lol.
If we had something I could disconnect and move easily they could still travel.
Yes ... T-Post = not movable.

But, take a look at @aart 's hoop coop tractor:

There are lots of hoop tractor options.

It still may not work for your situation ... but is at least something to consider.

My grass in the back yard has never looked better. They have full run of the yard, but I am fortunate enough to have a six-foot fence. Also, I had a jungle of weeds I let get away from me and those girls had it gone by late last Fall.

That looks fabulous!
Thanks! It was on the fly design. Lol I'm fortunate as my DH works in landscape and had the posts left over from a job he did. The PVC was because I didn't want to crawl around in my run cleaning and feeding. We're hoping to eventually move to our bigger farm property, so this was temporary.....lol but we all know how temporary goes!

Too keep cost down....you could call some smaller business owners who do landscaping or construction for scrap material. Even the gate in my run was removed from a clients job as trash. Another man's trash is someone else's treasure. Everything in the run minus the coop was taken from something else on my property. The roost on the side was from my kids dry rotted swing set. The ladder was in good shape and I removed the bolts from. Lol
