If you want to get picky, ALL dogs are related to wolves. That is why they can interbreed. As for the dog breed in question, the way to settle the debate once and for all is to do a DNA test.

Really all dogs are related to wolfs. Years of breeding has gotten most of the wolf like features out of them. Most dogs now have lots of medical issues. Yet people keep on breeding them making more dogs that will have to suffer.
