I have a hen who just went broody about a week ago. The kids forgot to pick up eggs and she ended up with almost a dozen under her. I have taken all eggs away from her and keep doing so daily, but she insists on setting. Problem is, we don't have a rooster. Is there anyone nearby who has fertile eggs? I'm between LA and San Diego.

You might try Trader Joe's. A couple of members have found fertile eggs there and had success hatching.

Also do a search on Craigs list. I saw one in El Cajon. Search "farm eggs" for Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego.

Good Luck.

I would call your local feed store and talk to them about who might have fertile eggs. The lady at the feed store here networks between all kinds of people for eggs, livestock, etc. I get calls all the time from people who she referred to me.

I have fertile eggs and am near San Diego. Both my Black Javas and my Buff Orpingtons are laying like crazy.
