Hi,

I would rather go to a breeder then a hatchery. I am looking for silkies, buff orps, sussex, wyandottes australorps and possibly doms. I would like to get baby chicks. I want to be able to have my kids form bonds with them. I know the more they are handled when they are younger, the better.

None of those should be particularly hard to find.

What I would do is first go check out Cmom's list of upcoming Florida shows and swaps which you can find here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=241786

Usually a thread specific to each swap will get started within a month or two of each one though some that repeat have continuous running threads. Post to the threads of the swaps you want to go to with your list of what you are looking for. Chances are pretty good you'll get at least one person with something of interest. Finding your whole list may take a few swaps.

Silkies I can say have several good area breeders such as Sunshine Silkies in Lake City, Three Cedars Silkies in Gainesville, and Bobbi Porto in Tampa and they often go to area swaps and shows. The others I'm not as familiar with but often see those breeds at the swaps. So check them out.

Thank you for the info. It has been a little hectic lately so I haven't been online much. I am looking around for local breeders and I am surprised there isn't much in Southeast Florida. I am kind of far away from the breeders you have listed, but it may pay to take a drive there one day.

If anyone knows of some small breeders in South Florida, please let me know.

Its been awhile since you posted this but have you found anyone? i also live in the broward area and am trying to find local sellers... I am interested in getting barred rocks. Message me if anyone knows someone!
