Hi all, looking at some of these coops I am simply overwhelmed, you guys look like architects.
I have ZERO building experiences and was wondering if any one could point me into a direction to a step by step guide to building a coop.

I currently have 6 bantams and 4 large size.
I dont need much of a run, they will free range most of the day.

Thanks so much for any assistance,

Jeff

I have posted these before in another thread. They are framing kits you can buy in various sizes. You don't need to cut any angles. If you make a list of how many 2x4's you need and what lengths you need them to be to one of the big box stores they will cut it for you. It is pretty much like assembling furniture from IKEA. Then you just screw plywood on to it (The box stores will cut this for you as well if you know all the measurements).

Or, you can check Craigslist for coops. Just make sure you know what size you need. Usually the people who offer pre-made coops advertise them as suitable for more birds than you should really keep in them.

Good luck!

What tools do you own, and know how to use? Hand saws and hammers? Or do have a circular saw? Table saw? Jig saw? Nail gun? Drill?

Coops can be quite simple. Have you looked through the coop pages? Yeah, there are lots of fancy ones on there, but there are also some simple ones...

I have a circular saw, hammer, drill and dont mind buying some stuff, but when I look at the pictures I have no idea how they got built. So like in cooking, I am just trying to find a "recipe", instead of a picture of a cake.

I hope that makes sense.

I appreciate the help, you guys are great.

Sincerely,

Jeff

Thanks guys, both of these are very helpful, gonna head to lowes/home depot today.
