Looking for ideas for FF chick feeder

I feed the chicks the same way I feed adults, with cat food dishes or other small ceramic/glass bowls, elevated on some bricks. The chicks WILL walk in it but they quickly grow out of that phase.

Paper plates is a good idea. Do you have problems with them tramping on it and packing it down?

I mix some dry crumbles back into a little of the wet mash so that the food becomes less moist and holds together in a clump. I pick up a clump and sprinkle or scatter it on the paper plates.There’s less packing down because the food isn’t in a deep container. It’s in smaller clumps that fall apart easily when the chicks peck at it.

What ever you use just put it up on a piece of wood so they are at a standing posture when eating. They are less likely to get in it or on it.

Yes once I see the hatchlings are hopping around and have the skill of eating from a plate, I also give them a shallow heavy bowl elevated on a brick. Just high enough so they exercise their little legs.
