Looking for info on Orpingtons from BYC people

Thanks for all the repies. I think I have my heart set on the Orps :)
I'll take my chances on getting a dosile Roo

I'm new to this whole BYC website, so I hope I do this right. I am looking for some Buff orpingtons (bantam) and was directed here by another poultry lover. Does anyone know of a breeder in MI?

I also have orps and I also have a very nasty roo but he is staying. I know without a doult that he will protect his girls. Sometimes you have to look at things from their point of view. They do not know what will or will not harm their hens. That is their instinct to protect the hens. So my white orpington roo Casper will stay even though I have to enter his coop very cautiously. I respect his turf and he respects mine. Now my giant cochin roo Marshmellow and my other cochin roo Dutch are the sweetist natured roos going. I myself loved the orps until I got the giant cochins. They to me are the sweetist birds out there. Not to mention fat fluffy and feather footed.lol

Foxy... I too am set on the Orps. I am having a really hard time waiting. But... I'm not set up yet. I have my heart set on blue, buffs, splash, and black. I originally planned on buying straight run chicks but after further research now I've decided to just buy eggs from several different breeders and then order a few cockerels so that my roo won't be producing offspring with any sisters. Or maybe I'll just be sure to keep only roos from one of my egg batches. Stay in touch and let me know how it works out for you. I'm sure you'll be getting yours before I will mine. I'm gathering materials now from craigslist and freecycle getting prepared to construct my "hatchery". It'll be mid to late summer before I can start ordering eggs. Good luck to you in your adventure.

Oh also, just a thought on roos... I wouldn't be too overly concerned about an aggressive roo, I would think he would be more prone to protecting your flock (and your investment) than a roo that was docile.
