We will be building a coop and fencing the area this fall, as soon as it cools off! Who can I get my name on a list with for 1-day-old keets for next spring 2012? I am in upstate SC, would prefer to pick them up in the area (Greenville). Also, I am open to trying to hatch some eggs in an incubator that I have access to. What's the earliest I can plan on getting eggs or keets next spring from someone in my area? Thanks!

timing is a crap shoot. depends on night temperatures unless you are sure you want to keep a heat lamp on for long periods of time.

finding a breeder in the area should be simple.

I would try to get some chicks now. This way they you will have a shot at eggs by next spring.

Probably the best thing to do is locate a breeder and find out what time of year the guineas in your area start laying eggs. Murray Mc Murray doesnt sell Guinea Keets till around June. They are in the Midwest I believe. Around here in Southern California I know people who started hatching eggs around February. You will have to google places in your area to find a hatchery. Most Hatcherys ship keets in the mail. I just got my first order ever in the mail from Northern California. The only limitation with doing it that way Is you have to order a specific quantity to fill the shipping box. Some places require a minimum of thirty Keets but there are others that do smaller orders for a little extra money.... (special heated container)

good luck.

You might also want to check out your local sales papers, that's where we got our keets from. It was great getting to meet the person, being able to see all of his different birds and see his housing set up.

Check your local craigslist listings and also the listings for surrounding areas, or you can place a "Keets or fertile Guinea Eggs Wanted" ad on craigslist for your area. I sell lots of keets with my craigslist ads. You can also post "Keets or fertile Guinea Eggs Wanted" flyers at your local feed stores. Google Guinea Fowl Breeders List... maybe there's a breeder in your area that sells keets and/or eggs.
