Ok, well I am roughly 12 hours away from having survived the 3rd campout of the summer where my husband and oldest son got a get away. I told my husband after this one that I wanted a day away. I never take one and I am worn worn out. When they are gone I have the 3 littles and the cows, horses, goats, geese, ducks and chickens. I also have one injured and one just plain ticked off parent to keep an eye on. On top of that one I found the chores my son has been neglecting and got them all caught up. I am 4 loads away from being laundry caught up but I have done 11 loads this week( yes thats a lot, its all this dang camping I am telling you). My husband also suggested that in my free time I should try to make the weekend special for the littles because they never get to go on these camp outs and they were feeling left out. So I took them hiking, playing in the creek, out for ice creams, did some crafts, blueberry picking, made a camp fire and made them tropical milkshakes the last 2 nights. I am building up to it ladies. The house is clean, there is food made in the fridge, the laundry will be done and the morning chores will be done. I think at that point its time for me to crawl in the van and escape. SOOO.....

I think all this deserves a special moms day out. I plan on taking my oldest daughter (9) with me. Even though I did most of it, she did her best to help. So ideas? I was considering taking her out for sushi with me but thats about where my ideas died out. I never do this kind of thing? A treat for me is going to goodwill on my own. Heck going to the grocery on my own even will do. Hog wild luxury to me at this point is putting a bit of scented oil in the bathtub in the middle of the night and sneaking a bath. I need ideas. What do you guys go do exactly? My husband is encouraging this but he has no ideas either. He said I could go grocery shopping on my own if that was really what I wanted but maybe I should come up with other ideas first.

Never mind I think I got it lol. I looked up our local mall and we have a bath and body works. ( who knew) We are going tomorrow after church. Just the two of us and daddy is taking over the farm for the afternoon. I am looking up coupons now ( we will be smelly and frugal lol)

I love how you just went around it all and figured it out on your own!! Way to go!!! Maybe while you are at the mall with your daughter, you could do some window shopping. I do that with my 8 year old DD (soon to be 9). I tell her if she can find something that is $15 or cheaper, she can get it. But it has to be only one thing. She loves it! It's like a treasure hunt for her.

Enjoy your day out. It sounds like you need it!!!

My husband suggested checking the mall. Actually he asked what was there that we would enjoy and I had no clue so I looked them up online lol. I think shopping and I end up at tsc, finding something a bit different took some thinking outside the box for me.

My daughter is already flipping about getting to go. She is uber girly and loves girl time out. She is even more thrilled that girl time out does not involve walgreens, tsc, or aldi this time lol. She has been taking on a fair share of her brothers chores all summer though so she deserves it. My husband is excited to get home and shove us out the door too. I think he is hoping I do all the destressing while we are gone.

I promised a nice meal when we got back too. With the thought of a shopping trip my daughter is pouring over recipes to please daddy's tummy. An afternoon away, a bit of cooking and a good meal and a wonderful nights sleep and I will be ready for the next camping trip in a couple weeks.

My DD is very girly as well. I believe every piece of clothing she owns is either pink or purple! And heaven forbid I suggest she put on jeans or shorts to go outside and play in! uh-uh! No way. She has to go put on a skirt or skort, sandals or flip flops, and her baby doll. She asks me at least once every other day if I will paint her nails for her.

I am NOT girly! I wear jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes or steel toed boots. I own several dresses that I have had for YEARS! I can't even get in them anymore! *note to self: clean out closet!!* And I can't tell you the last time I painted my nails.

I just don't know where the youngin gets all this girliness!!!

Y'all have fun on your day out!

According to my daughter, today was the best day ever, the greatest. She was very animated and still all hyped up. She got all kinds of smelly, girly stuff and me too. Then we dropped by another store that was having a huge "renovation" sale. We both picked up a couple clothing items at a steal. Then off to buy some sushi rolls. Then we stopped by dollar general to pick up some mundane things like school socks and underwear lol. Still it was a great few hours.

Ok seriously guys I, if I were not in the middle of the final stretch to a debt free push I would do this more often. After final stretch I will do little treats like this again. I feel great. Not stressed. No anxiety attacks. I smell awesome. My daughter is sweet smelling and sleeping already. She was all smiles and helpfulness. I just feel like smiling tonight. Its amazing, I was sitting in the tub with my new smelly stuff and all I can think about was our time away. I am so glad I demanded a break today. The doctor didn't order it but she should have lol.

Hi,

Do you ride? Saw that you have horses, go on a horsecamping weekend "All Girls". You will have a blast, and DH can take care of the farm and kids for a weekend. I do this a few times a year, perfect detox. What more could you want, your best friend with 4 hooves, adult girl talk. Very affordable, haul with a friend, got to feed the horse anyway. So the only real cost is fuel, take your own food.

Just a thought because you have so many great places to ride in KY. BTW what kind of horses do you have? And what kind of riding do you do?

I don't ride at all actually. I am terrified of horses ( shhhh they will take my cowgirl boots away). I was thrown by our oldest resident when I was a young teen and could not walk or move my neck for several weeks. I never was able to ride after that. I did try but I hyperventilate and pass out so.........

Our horses are rescues mostly. We have King who is a quarter horse. He is an onery old man who likes to give me a hard time and then demands a treat for being onery. We have 2 others and I cannot tell you what they are. My sister rescued them and then could not take care of them so now we do. They are both black and white spotted. One cannot be ridden at all because he has a very bad knee and hoof issues. He suffered abuse and neglect and is lucky the vet and the farrier are so patient. The other, sundance, is a mean spirited youngester who is only mean because he was abused. He probably could be ridden but he would need someone who is not old or terrified. The horses are nice to just watch play though. I enjoy them running and goofing off.

We are going family camping in a few weeks. I have not come up with any girl only stuff yet but considering my mood tonight my husband said he would gladly cover the chores again for a bit of escape. I am sure my daughter will come up with something. Anywho I am off to bed now. Time to take part in the sleep of the truly relaxed. Thanks guys

Ok, another thought... Got a best girlfriend, if you like country music. Take an overnight to Nashville, catch a show and dinner. Go window shopping, ect. Leave on a Saturday am come back Sunday afternoon with recharged batteries.... I would so do this if I lived closer. As it is I have a girlfriend and her DH that live just outside Nashville. Love to go up and visit them.
