Looking for people who've used chickensitters (paid or unpaid)

We had a chicken-sitter last weekend. She's actually sort of a Jill of all trades. She watered the chickens and made sure their feeder was full, but I think she was kinda scared of them. We told her she could have any eggs, but she didn't take any--I found my broodiest EE sitting on a huge pile.

DH is a tattoo artist, and there are always "groupie" type women hanging around the studio. Some are vaguely reliable.

To answer you question I have, and already sent you a PM.

The original post asked would you answer a few questions about you experience, not to put them here, but to PM.

We can all do both

I have an "Animal Nanny". She takes care of the dogs, horse, mules and chickens. She even remembers to feed the fish in stock tank. In fact as I type this, I'm sitting in the airport on the way home from a business trip. My DH is picking me up and the animals would have to wait til about midnight to eat, but a quick call to the animal nanny and everyone is taken care of!

Ok here I will do both. our dog sitter stays in our house with or dogs because they are getting old now she just takes care of the chickens too when she is here. She does'nt charge to much and is great.

I had asked for PM just because I would like to do the actual sorting-out and 'interviewing' privately, and hadn't expected the subject to become an actual thread... but now that you mention it, certainly it would also be interesting for people in general to share their experiences out here on the board

I think I'm good on people to interview for the article now, btw, and thanks very very much to everyone

I've used a service here where I live. It's $12.50 per visit, and they do a complete interview first to find out everything they need to know, down to people to contact and what vet to go to in case of emergencies. They are a licenced business, and I have had nothing but good experiences with them. But with the price of gas going up, I'll bet their rate is higher next time I need to use them.
