Looking for photos and ideas for roosts and poop trays etc.

Here is a pic of mine. nothing fancy. its basically a ladder roost that is horizontal. there is a mesh of 1x1 welded wire under the whole thing and that has since been removed (thank goodness). poop does not magically fall through a mesh without a lot of help! the whole thing hinges up although is not connected to anything and can be easily removed for cleaning. I have also just got a piece of vinyl to put on the board part. it is made of osb, not the smoothest product out there.

I have 9 birds and you usually find them all in a huge pile at one end or the other. it is amazing that with this system the coop stays soooo clean! there is hardly any poo in there! they are out at the crack of dawn and in at dark so they are always up on the roost and not hanging out on the floor. well unless waiting for a nest box or eating. i keep the food on the inside that is the little overhang in the pic.

ahhhh to be new and clean again!

Here's mine. All one level, so hopefully not to much jockeying for the best spot. Also put linoleum on the boards for cleaning. All I need now are the chickens.

Oh those look great!

Bill and consdrs do you have ladders for them to access the roosts or will they fly up there on thier own? My girls will be standard sized birds I'm guessing.

No I don't. It's just one big hop with a wing flap and they are there. I have all standards in this coop. mine is around 26" high. I know I could have made it higher up but then it would have covered the window. And they land with a "thud" as it is.

So I had to go to Home Depot to get a few things and I went to the lumber section. I got to thinking about the pictures on this post and a light bulb went off and this is what I had to buy and I put it together in less than one hour. The stair thingy's were eight dollars each and the 2"x2"x4' were 97 cents. So this was a very cheap not free but a good way to make a roost and have equal spacing between the poles so they don't poop on each other.

Hey you folks all sem to be pretty creative... Could you take a look at my post from yesterday https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=192705 and see if you have any additional ideas? (lelisabeth is the one that directed me to this link) After reading these I think I'mclose to having everything figured out, but still at the point where I'm welcoming all ideas. Thanks! (I thought about cross-posting my thread here, but really my main concern at the time was my nest boxes, and that seemed to go in 'Chicken behavior & egglaying'. Now I'm thinking my perches need help regardless) I'd post photos but I can't find the camera...

Here is mine, but I'm rethinking it - they fight and carry on with each other for the top roost and they wind up all squeezing in - I don't know how they can be comfortable!
