Does anyone know of a serama breeder or hatchery that will sell strait run or hens? I have some amazing Roos but need some fresh blood in the hen department.

Just pets - have plenty of Roos - 12 to be exact - but only two hens and really would love to grow a whole flock of these buggers. I don't do the shows - but I do like them to at least have he look for the real thing (in other words not just hatchery quality but just pets for us to enjoy)

I haven't seen any big hatcheries with them. I want to have seramas as well, and my solution is to order eggs from a seller here or on ebay with stock that looks pretty to me. You might be able to find someone close to you who has a flock from whom you could at least buy streight run chicks from?

I'm curious, how do all those roos get along?

They are each in their own little run - they need space or they get into scuffs. I have eggs in the bator but I am not the best at hatching eggs.... Thus the hunt. Sadly everywhere I look they want to sell roosters only or sell in pairs only. All of mine to date are silkie cross - so some amazing cute little guys out there.

Hi, this is the most recently posted Serama thread and I hope someone can answer a few questions for me.

Can I house a Serama hen with my standard hens? I dont have a rooster. Its a small backyard flock of 5 standard hens.

Also, I know they arent cold tolerant but how cold are we talking? I live in Seattle and it rarely dips below the mid thirties at night. will they need additional heat?

I have heard they are loud. . . how loud? And is it just the roos or the hens that are loud?

Thanks!!!

They for me are much more quieter then my full size roosters. I am in 7b and will be giving them extra warmth in winter. I have mine separate but I have almost twenty of them.
