WHERE ARE SILKIES AVAILABLE?????

I would just buy straight-run. You will not know their sex for about 3-4 months, perhaps longer, or have them all DNA'd, which costs anywhere from $5 to $8, which I pay, to as much as $20 each.

Silkies are usually easy to sell/giveaway, especially if you offer a pair; hen and roo, so I'd get some extras.
Great idea! How do i get them DNA'd? How does that work? Do i ask the hatchery to do it? Or do i have to do it? If i have to do it, where do i get the kit?

There are many many labs now of people sexing birds. It is easy to do, you just pay for the testing, then collect samples. Blood is usually the easiest for young birds - clip off toenail and extract a drop of blood on a coffee filter or whatever they want you to collect it on. Then mail that to the lab and they will email you with the results. Usually the whole thing takes about a week.

They don't have home kits for this yet. My understanding is the lab equipment and supplies run a few thousand.

@2ndTink does it. I got the vials here. I see those are out of stock, but it gives you the idea. We clipped a toenail and put just a bit of blood in. They don't need much. Then cap it, seal in a sandwich bag, use a bubblepack envelope, and mail it in. It just takes a couple of days to a week and you can be emailed, messaged, or mailed the results.

Each place is different. Here's another: https://thesilkielab.com/
