Looking for reviews for Privett Hatchery

This will be the first time that I've gotten chicks from a hatchery. My first chickens came from a great friend here in the Bahamas and since then, when the opportunity is right, I've gotten hatching eggs from my great BYC friends.

Heres pics of my orlooff roo who came from Welps through Privett. The 8 mon. old cockel andpullet i hatched from him .Probably not show but im happy with them

All the local feed stores HERE in this town..... ( in New Mexico ---as is Privett Hatchery-different City ) ......get their chicks from Privett. I have been satisfied with All of those birds that I have purchased. No Problems at all.
-just MY experience-

GOOD LUCK.

Last summer (June 8th-10th 2011) my friend and I ordered 35 chicks from them. They made the trip from Arizona to PA in the middle of a 95-102 degree heat wave and only one chick was dead in the box. The rest were healthy and well. They shipped 3 extras. I called them on Monday to let them know I lost that one, I never got my refund for that one (not that I cared) but they did send me duplicate NPIP paperwork when I asked three months later. The chicks were breeder/pet quality, but for egg layers I didn't care.

I had tried to order chicks from Privett this past December. I wanted to have the birds grown and ready to lay eggs for me when the local Farmer's Markets open in May. I had placed the ordered 2 weeks before the available hatch date. Three days after the chicks were to arrive, I called Privett to find out where my order was. They never shipped them. They claimed there was a problem with my phone and my credit card. And they never followed up. Well, I turned around the same day (with the same credit card) and ordered from another hatchery. This mistake set me back about by about 2 - 3 weeks, and I will not have those extra eggs available until the middle of May. The local feed store gets there stock from Privett, so that is where I found out about the hatchery. I cannot vouch for the "health" of the chicks, cause the ones at the feed store always seem to be doing well.
Now, I have ordered from 'McMurray', and I have received stock from another local feed store, and they get theirs from 'Ideal'. But, the last batch I got from Mt Healthy in Ohio. I cant begin to tell you how happy I am with this group of chicks! Hatched on a Tuesday, shipped from Ohio on Wednesday, and getting them to California via the PO on Thursday - we got 51 Buff Orpington pullets (ordered 50). Very healthy, active, happy chicks all doing well - didn't lose a one - I have a feeling they will start laying early. I am planning on ordering Black Australorps, Dixie Rainbows and Ameraucanas from them as soon as I can get a few more eggs sold. Oh, and I checked prices from Mt Healthy vs the other hatcheries, and they are very comparable. I would highly recommend them a look see when you are getting more chicks.
Just my 2 cents worth ........

I ordered 25 pullet "Ameraucanas" from them 3 years ago, and had no issues aside from the usual "not Ameraucanas but EEs" issue. All of the chicks were healthy and were VERY good layers. 100% pullets as well. I never ordered again as I got a pure rooster and have been hatching my own since. I was pleased with my experience.

Well, I got my baby Wellies on Friday the 10th (4 days ago) and so far so good. Everyone is healthy and doing just fine.
