Sorry, just saw your responses. I'm not on FB, buty boyfriend is, if you had a page for me to review. I don't mind driving 2hrs for a chicken. It's still better than having them mailed!I know there is a breeder 2 hours N of Syracuse. (No idea if that is "upstate" or not.)
I'm so sorry to hear that you lost Iris. We also name all of our chickens, most by association and your story reminds me of one of ours. She runs all over, so fast, darting from one spot to another like lightening, that she looks like a roadrunner. We named her Meep-MeepJust chiming in to say it is a GREAT breed. tho mine was from a hatchery and she laid soft eggs for several years then all of a sudden they were good....i lost her last year and we all just LOVED her. Iris...she always pecked at kids shoes so they called her pecker. VERY friendly girl and sweet to everyone.
