I see silkies for sale all the time. Have you checked craigslist? Seems to be one of the most popular breeds on there. Or any Silkie threads on here? I'm in CA and don't ship so can't help. But good luck!

Wish I could get mine to actually lay some eggs instead of just trying to brood their lives away!

I don't do facebook, but you might also try there. Being in Florida you should still have a lot of options this time of year. In fact one guy I bought silkies from had his eggs shipped from a breeder in Florida. If you have any feed stores, might be worth calling them. They often get them from the hatchery. But they also might know who the local breeders are and they usually have lots of contact with the 4H kids.

Do you already know what you're looking for? Color pattern, bearded or non bearded? While blue is one of my favored colors in birds that's not true for Silkies because they are too close in shade most the time to tell apart from black. But how cool would it be to get Lavender?! I currently keep black and paints, as well as a splash and some blue boys on their way out of my flock.

i want to get females (like most everyone else) i do not care what color, bearded or non- bearded, show or pet quality, i just want to start raising silkies as pets!!!! i love silkies, all of them!! they are so cute!!! i want them for pets only please. thanks so very much for the information!!! your silkies sound very beautiful!!! i already have enough silkie roosters for pets, they need females for them. iam going to keep looking for females for them. they are such beautiful roosters. 2 partridge, 1 black with some silver around his neck, white silkie roosters, and one buff silkie rooster. thanks again very much, rennea burgess.

i agree with that!!! they are such broody little chickens!!! i hope that they soon stop being broody and get back to work laying eggs and producing very beautiful silkie babies for you asap!!! rennea.
