Hi! I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this!

(Anchorage, Alaska)

I will be going out of town very soon and need to find someone who will be able to watch my chicken while I am gone. I have been trying to find someone that can but no such luck so far. Every time I think I have found a solution or someone who can watch her, it always ends up not working out. I am in a panic mode and quite stressed out about it as my flight is coming up really soon and have not been able to find anyone who can watch her.

She is by herself atm. I plan to add another chicken(s) soon but for now it is her by herself as she was given to me as a baby. This is why she is really important to me as I have raised her since she was a baby and don't want anything bad happening to her.

Circumstances make it so that it won't be possible for her to be taken care of at my place while I am gone so she would have to be taken to whoever will be taking care of her. This also adds all sorts of complications to this already complicated situation :hit.

She does lay eggs. So far she has been doing so everyday. But she is also going through a molt. Even though she is going through a molt, she is still laying eggs which worries me as I heard it is not good for their health when they lay as they go through a molt (?)

I will be gone for around 3 months.

If you or anyone you know is able to watch over her while I am gone, please let me know! I am also down to try looking at any boarding facilities that you guys may recommend. So far I have yet to find one that will take care of chickens.

I am beyond stressed and worried about this so I am hoping to find a solution soon! Thank you guys!

I will try asking there as well! Thank you!

Check on Craigslist for pet sitters.

I've been wanting to make a post on there as well but I hear of all sorts of horror stories on finding someone on craigslist. It might also make it a bit difficult when it requires me bringing my chicken to them.

Is there a 4 H organization in your town ? One of the kids may be able to help.

I tried to look into it but it doesn't seem like they would watch a chicken? I will try to double check.

It’s a pricey option but veterinarian’s board animals. I would start there. You’ll find responsible animal loving people there. Perhaps they could recommend someone. Maybe even one of the staff members.

I've been calling vet offices but no luck so far :(. It even seems some of them found me asking a bit ridiculous by the tone change in their voice. Everything would be so much easier if she was a dog/cat instead of a chicken:hit

Do you know anyone who has chickens of their own?

I do have a friend that own chickens. She lives in a different city but I was willing to drive over there to drop my chicken off. I thought this friend would be able to but things happened on her end that prevents her from being able to. We thought we found a solution just yesterday but not too long after she tells me she won't be able to :hit

X 2! I would watch my friends chickens for them.
I can’t believe nobody will help you.
Chickens aren’t difficult to take care of.
Is there a feed store something there?
Maybe someone there could help?

I have friends who believe it would be hard to take care of a chicken & that they are scary. I have told them all the biggest things they would need to do is clean & make sure she has food/water. My chicken isn't even scary as she has been around humans since she was just a baby so she only pecks when she feel threatened.

I would think I found a friend who would be willing to but out of nowhere stuff happens in their lives that prevent them from being able to do so. I only have one friend who has chickens and she isn't able to either.

I will be checking out the feed store next! I have also posted on a facebook group someone suggested I do.
