Well like so many others I am sick of rehoming or eating all my roosters because of their crowing and can't do the breeding I want to do without a partner in an area with rural zoning laws. I have heard of some people making special sound insulated coops for roos and have begun to consider it. Would love to see some designs.

I'd love that too! It sounds like a possibility but they would have no outside time? Would it be worth it?

I was thinking of a coop that would prevent my roos from bothering neighbors during the nighttime and early morning. No outside time would be cruel without a palace of an indoor coop. Too expensive anyway.

Overnite in our basement, and don't let him out to wake any neighbors until after 8:30a.m. He comes in at sundown all on his own. Son number one puts a fresh newspaper to poop on under his roost every day. Its easy.

I actually like to hear him crowing in his sleep at nite, then I know where he is, and he's safe.

Its our permanent temporary fix.
