All I can think is a cluster of vessels, but I don't see much veining throughout the egg like I would expect to see.

You are sure you saw movement??? There's a lot of clear space you wouldn't expect to see in a full term egg, but you would expect to see prominent veining in the areas where the light passes through.

It's hard to judge from pictures, and I could totally be wrong, but if you showed me that picture but didn't tell me anything about it, I would say it was a quitter, and about day 12-14.

The veining doesn't start to shut down and absorb until after the chicks pip externally, so yes, even when they are ready to hatch you see veining where light passes through.
