Hi everyone, new member here. I joined because I am new to chickens. I live with my wife, two kids and my in-laws. We recently got 7 baby chicks. We got 4 Americana hens and three others from a few different breeds. I work from home in Tech so I'm looking forward to being able to balance that with work. We also just built a coop and are working on putting in the trench around the coop since we have a lot of predators here in East Tennessee (coyotes, bobcats, hawks, etc.). But I'm looking forward to being part of the community and learning more!
welcome and thanks for joining. Not sure what you mean by a trench? An apron of hardware cloth extending out about 18 to 24" is what's often recommended around here, to keep predators from digging. I think usually it's just laid on the ground and covered with gravel but I'm not sure. I don't have one yet so I may be unclear on the details. Anyway good luck with your flock!
