Hi, we currently acquired 6 chickens, they were going to be slaughtered, so we took them, with no previous experience. We put a makeshift coop up and ran with it. We have no idea the kinds they are, as they are all different, and some are young and some are older. The youngest ones are around 3 months, maybe 4. Last night we lost one of the younger ones, unsure of why? I plan on posting that in the appropriate thread. But in regards to gaining more knowledge on chickens, I would love to know of good sites to visit, books to read, etc. Or if you are a chicken whiz, lay it on me. I would love to know everything and anything... From cleaning, vaccines, eggs, to plants they shouldn't eat, we know nothing really about caring for them other then, clean the coop and feed them. But we surely couldn't just let them die, so we are willing and eager to learn about our new pets and the proper way for caring for them. Thank you in advance. If anyone is curious on the symptoms of the chick we lost I can give more, as I am new to the site, it may take a bit before posting in the proper place.
