LOOKING RIR rooster in CT

There are a few guys that go to auction that buy up all the large rabbits and ship them to PA to the meat plant. That's why my hubby buys so much when he goes there. He would rather buy it then try to rehome it then to see it go to someone we know will eat it. We aren't necessarily opposed to the meat industry and may start a line of New Zealands for meat production in the future but to see the same group of people buying every single one is heart breaking.

My hubby got into a bidding war with some guy over a Flemish. The guy ended up paying close to 60 for it. Maybe it was the same day you were there. My hubby decided if you want 'em I'm gonna at least make you pay a premium lol

One of the does we got at the auction had a litter last night 8 babies. So glad we saved her from the stew pot

Oh i never knew that !! No wander they buy them all . I know alot of guys go there to buy the chickens and turkeys for the resturaunts .

Last time i was there a Flemish had given birth to a litter of 8-9 in the crates and evry one was frieking out . SOme one took them home and bottle fed them i beleve . IF you want a rhode island red roo i can call my nieghbor who breeds them . Let me know

definately interested in getting quality RIR roos. What does your neighbor charge?

I think we may have found a pair of roos here in CT. A lady has a pair 5 months old. Funny barter thing going to happen. There is a silo in the town I live in she's interested in buuying and its too far to drive to just look at. If I take my digital camera and take pix for her she'll trade the 2 roos. I thought that was a great deal:bun
