Looking to get into peafowl

You do realize when you are talking about 100 square foot, you're talking about a 10' x 10' pen?

I hate the thought of keeping peafowl in such a small area. I have been to a large breeders place and calculated that some of the breeding pens averaged 66 sq ft per bird.

I feel the same way. My pens total around four thousand square feet and many times I feel that I need to add more pen space as I do not allow my pea hens to free range. All the pens are interconnected so during non breeding season all the birds can go from one to another and all intermingle. For me putting a peacock inside a 10x10 dog pen and expect him to thrive is a pretty sad way to keep such a beautiful bird. Maybe the experienced pea folks on here might want to start answering the space question with say a minimum space of four hundred square for the first bird and one hundred square feet for each additional bird. Just my opinion but I constantly see the one hundred square feet mentioned as a minimum and to me that would be like building a two foot by two foot chicken house to keep one hen. Again just my opinion. FC
