Looking to have chickens as pets

Hi all,
I'm going to get a couple of chickens as pets for my 3yo daughter.
Can anyone steer me towards inexpensive chicken coops for a small back yard?
I see some on eBay, but they run around $150.00.
Any info would be great.
Also, eggs from the chickens would be a bonus.
Any suggestions to the breed of chicken that will satisfy both needs?

Breeds? Buff Orpingtons are great for kids! they are soooooo gentle and they also have great egg production!

As far as breeds go, Buff Orpingtons or Plymouth Rocks or Black Australorps are all good breeds. They are gentle and have excellent productive lives. Good luck!

Buff Orpingtons are really good for kids. They are gentle, friendly, and GREAT egg layers! The picture below has a Buff Orpington on it.
