I have done my research, built a coop with attached fenced in yard, have plenty of free roaming space around the coop & attached yard.... Now I need my flock!

Hubby claims I always go for the hardest (fill in the blank) to find, and this is probably no exception. I'd like to find one roo & 4-6 pullets. Does anyone know where I can find sexed, day old, blue or splash Orpingtons? I'd be willing to travel in NC, So. VA or N. SC for older birds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can check out Eggbid or Gordie's list but the eggs would be hard to come by or the started birds would be pretty pricey.

Good luck on that one!

That's a tough one, pal. I've been trying for over a year to get just a half dozen hatched. I sell hatching eggs and I have ten times more people wanting them than I can accomodate. They are pretty coveted right now. The two hatcheries that sell them do NOT sex them plus they're sold out for the year, if I recall.

Too bad your so far away. I have a handsome splash cock, but no ladies for him.

Also bear in mind the effects of shipping on eggs, in particular Blue Orpingtons. For some reason it seems that lots of people (myself especially!) have a hard time hatching them. I bought over 30 eggs to get 4 chicks, and that's pretty good luck LOL

Sara - That's such a tease! That's eaxctly what I am hoping to find... I love the Splashes.

Cara I just hatched only one Blue Orp out of 13 eggs from Speckledhen this week.I even had one die when it was halfway zipped and fully formed.I know shipping is rough on any eggs but I am a believer that Blue Orps are even more fragile. These eggs only cam from Georgia to South Carolina and I still only got one to hatch.Believe it or not I only had 2 clears, the rest started developing but stopped somewhere along the way.I'm not giving up and will keep trying until I get a few for myself.
