I have these Barred Rocks that are now going on 8 months old. A while back I was wondering if I had a couple roosters in my bounch, so I posted a couple pics and was told they still look to be Hens. Any thoughts now? I didnt want roosters in my flock but man these are the two of the nicest chickens I have ever seen.

I don't see any telltale signs that the one on the right is a roo, but a side pic would help.

Hahaa, I love how rolly polly barred rock girls get. Congrats on your girls.

The one on the right looks just like my hen and she's a great layer!

That doesn't look like a rooster to me. If it were, it would have long, silky feathers in his neck by now, and much larger comb and waddles. It would be much larger than the other and have a taller stance.

Those birds are both hens. Search for pics of barred rock roosters and you can see the difference.

Thanks for all the feed back. My kids will be so excited to her that they are hens, the kids named them Lavern and Sherlly. Thanks again
