Looks like another $35 chick

Im with you girls-Im out hundreds from hatching eggs and very little to show for them-I did get roos up the ying yang though:-( Just posted most on Craigslist! the last 3 hatches I have gotten 1 to hatch from each batch-2 were roos-burchin cochins-frizzles-silkies-sizzles-Weaton marans- nothing!!!! 1 sizzle sex unknown 1 frizzled burchin cochin-wasnt supossed to b frizzled-and 1 silkie... grrrrr

Are you doing this for fun or show??? I 'm surprised a group of people here haven't got together with an egg swap or something. (or have they and it hasn't worked)I've heard so many hatching horrors and it would be disappointing. I even heard of scammers on-line selling bum eggs. Unless your looking for something special there has to be an cheaper alternative. I know anytime shipping eggs there is a big amount of risk. But better a few dollars shipping than $50-100 for high priced eggs. Will

Out of a dozen polish frizzel, 2 eggs hatched from one particular pen (I'm thinking fertility prob) $32. Set with them was 6-silkie & 6 Frizzel another $30. I got 1 frizzel & 1 Silkie due to bad packaging. I'm looking at $16 per chick. I love the SQ polish that did hatch, but I'm not ordering hatching eggs again.
The others ar from my cochin. 100% hatch rate on those!

I am in the same boat. I have one little $25.00 chick in the brooder right now. Yesterday I was telling myself I'll never do this again.... Yeah, right!

The good news is that I had some $9.00 eggs in there, too and it looks like I'm going to get 4 babies out of them.

It really is like an addiction.

I had a bad hatch this spring also. The problem lies when they are already developed and the egg sack is just about absorbed they die. I just doin't understand why. I would have had a great hatch if it wasn't for that problem. I devised a way to add water without opening the lid or to turn. See I have no automatic turner. But with the last 6 eggs I did I made a way to turn the eggs and add water. I only opened a window to take the eggs out to candle 2 times. I got 2 chicks out of 6 eggs and the other 4 where 2 not fertile and 4 died early.

So this spring i'm hoping that when I get a turner I will have better sucess. I will be putting Onagadori in there and I want all of them to hatch if possible.

Another thing is I don't want to have any shipped. I think they get a bit scrambled in the travel. I had more of my mutts to hatch than I did shipped eggs. My only problem was I got mostly roosters from mine and they all looked alike. Very pretty though.

i have two very nice genesis incubators with thermostats, forced air fan, and egg turners. i still had bad hatches. Only good hatches were from the D'Uccle eggs i gathered from under the hen in my own backyard.

AND of the ones that did hatch, i had 70% roosters!

anyone want to try for some long shot eggs? I have not kept track this week. I was supposed to be selling to other people and started working nights, had someone start stealing eggs, had to place forty hens in a hurry (got them in a great home) and heat wave, broken pipe at the house where the chickens are... you name it. The eggs are piled up and I don't want to sellthem for top dollar. I will sell the whole crazy mess for $20 plus $15 shipping. There are about twenty CBM eggs, twenty F2 mille fleur cochin eggs, some EE eggs, some splash Ameraucana eggs, some Blue Silkie eggs from Alan Stanford/Hatrick cross, Showgirl/mottled cochin cross, Blue/Black marans eggs, some are from my three feather footed black marans project... there are a half dozen of those, another half dozen of the jumbo laying splash hen crossed with black marans, so guaranteed blue... Anyone, Anyone?
Otherwise I will be trying them out on LilRalphiRoosmama pickled eggs recipe! YUM! PO closes at 2 PST you can call my if it is getting close. My number is in my sig line.

SORRY FOLKS, THOSE EGGS GOT SOLD IN ABOUT THREE MINUTES FLAT!!!

PM me with your email or what have you if you want to be on my waiting list for leftover surprise eggs... Could be twenty eggs, could be sixty... just depends. Sayyyyy... $1/egg sound okay? Plus you get to cherry pick and only buy what you want. Woot!!! Only crazy Patty has such a deal!
