Looks like I'm gonna need eggs!!!But not yet...

As in hatching eggs!! I found out one of the 5th grade teachers at the school where I work has hatched eggs at school before. So I emailed her yesterday and asked about the incubator. Now she's all excited to hatch at school again this spring. If I provide the eggs I get to keep the chicks. I work with a 6th grade special ed student who will love this. My son gets dropped off at the school several days a week so he will get to watch too. I get to hatch chicks, keep an eye on them all day and get the benefit of the teacher's experience. Now I have to figure out what I want for eggs. I'll have to sell or give away any roosters. We're in a fairly rural area of the state too so that shouldn't be a problem. Time to start reading the incubating and hatching threads!!

Got some Marans or Blue orphs or BLRW or all of them LOL I want an incubator.

Ya I might get my teacher at school to hatch a few eggs I need to check with him though OH add blue wheaton amerucanas onto that list and buckeyes I know where you can get them.

Update: after talking to some of the kids at school who are know to have chickens I found that one of the boys in the class I work with has BR, RI, BO, Americauna, Speckled Sussex, SLW and Silkies. Hens and roos! I don't know if they keep them all separated or not but we have to time to look into that before we get started. Checked out the bator. It's Hova-bator 2362N. How am I ever going to make it to April???????

Go, Henrietta!!!! Sounds like you've hit the motherlode!!!! April is way too far off. Besides, that incubator hasn't been used in a while. I'm thinking it needs a test run so that you can be sure the kids get a successful hatch when you use it in the classroom. Don't you think it would be in everyones best interest if you volunteered to make sure the bator is working correctly by hatching a test-batch in it???

Well, you can just tell the teacher with the incubator that you have consulted with an entire group of hatching "experts" and that we strongly advised a test-run of that bator!!!!
