Not surprised that the confession thing is fake. If you are smart enough to get away with murder, you are also smart enough not to confess.

I think under the double jeopardy clause, he could be charged with a different, but related crime such as manslaughter.

I have no doubt that he did it, and I think the jury was a bunch of idiots. I think they could have had it on video, and those folks wouldn't have convicted.

I believe he can be charged with a different crime but not in the same category. Manslaughter is a lesser form of murder an still falls under the double jeopardy law. Problem is most crimes in other categories have a time limit that has passed.​

I thought he was charged with murder. Manslaughter, under the means of self defense, is a new story. I think he can be charged for it again because he a. lied about killing her on the stand therefor nullifying his previous testimonies b. is being charged under different circumstances, self defense not premeditated and c. he is admitting to killing someone.

My understanding is when you are charged with any of the murder crimes you are actually being charged with all of them an the jury has the option of convicting on the lesser ones if they chose. Weather the two sides want to make that known to the jury is up to them. Any way a not guilty verdict for one covers all an the double Jeopardy laws cover them all. No amount of evidence can get a new trial for the actual killing.

I did not know you could be charged with any form of murder even if your original charge was for another. Is that the same in every state? I thought you could have a second trial if it was under different circumstances. Like accidental manslaughter vs first degree murder
