The Eastern/Royal Palm cross hen that was sitting the nest of 12 eggs hatched her babies yesterday. There was one dead and 1 unhatched and 2 eggs not accounted for that I am assuming were bad and she had at sometime carried them away from her nest. After relocating them to a secure pen a very agitated Mommy finally joined them and all ar resting comfortably next to the feed and water. I will try to get pics but it may be a few days as this hen gets very agitated when approached too closely.

The hen is a cross from a Royal Palm hen and True wild Eastern tom. The hen bred with my Royal Palm tom and the variety in the box is the result. The hen has a lot of wild wariness in her and does not tolerate being approached closely at all.

Thats so exciting!!! Congrats!!! I wish my rp hen would set! I have two royal palm x standard bronze hatching right now. Cant wait to see what they look like. Keep posting pics as they grow!

I just went out to check on the ducklings in the brooder cage and heard the hen putting and yelping and I could here a poult in distress. I found this little guy has squeeze under the side of the pen where the rain has washed the dirt away. he/she was in the cold drizzling rain and pretty wet. I grabbed him/her up and after a session with the hair drier and an hour under my shirt on my belly he was kee keeing for Mommy so I returned him to the pen after taking care of the escape hatch.
