Loom knitting help

So my hubby was nice and picked me up a loom lit. Its going good so far but I noticed it looks super loose. Am I using to small or yarn? Or will this even out? Dont want it to be this loose and keep going if it won't look right

I found out I deff need thicker yarn lol but here is my first loom scarf

That looks nice. I double the yarn when I have thinner yarn.
