Hi everybody -
Since a few weeks ago, we've been getting weird eggs occasionally - they have very loose, sometimes bloody yolks. Does anyone out there know what it means? We feed Layena pellets, vitamin-enriched water, oyster shell grit; also treats such as oatmeal daily, cereals, breads, veggies, fruits, etc (this varies every day).
Also, don't know if this is related, but we lost a hen about a month ago - appeared healthy one day, and then found dead in her pen the next, no visible wounds, nothing odd except an extremely light light comb and wattles. And right now we have another hen, about 14 mths old, one of our favorites, a RI-red cross, just sitting quietly; not eating much at all. Her vent appears clean but the feathers around look like she may have had whitish diarrhea. Comb looks normal. We have isolated her.
If anyone out there can help, we'd appreciate it! Thanks so much -
ps we have 13 hens, 1 rooster, so we're not sure who the odd eggs are coming from -
