Help! When I let my 6 girls out today. One of them was walking really slow and staying low to the ground. Her head was lopsided and she wasn’t making any noise. She drank water and ate a little . She couldn’t keep up with the others, but finally made it to their bath spot. At dusk I went to close the pen and she was laying on the ground instead of the roost. I stroked her and she didn’t seem like she was in pain, no obvious wounds. What should I do? I’m a first timer, she is about 18 months old. I have never medicated them and they free range 4 or more hours daily. I didnt get a chance to see poop, her feathers were ruffled on one side.

Is she starting to molt, and has she been laying eggs? Pictures of her or a short video uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo with a link posted here might help. Is her head twisted or atuck like wry neck (torticolis?)

I wasn’t able to get a video today but will tomorrow. She can move her neck and twist it. I have never seen one in the molt stages. I did notice the last week she had been roosting in a different area than the others but still high off the ground. I notice areas that looked like a nesting area had been dug out and that’s where she is now on the ground. This is probably a silly question but how do I know if she is the one laying eggs. I got my usual 4 eggs today. count went from 6 to 4 a couple of months ago.
