Thats what was the first signal to me but other who have chickens that saw him say they think pullet. I wish he was a pullet because he is a trilling cuddlebug!
Well, perhaps those other people aren't very educated....just because you have chickens doesn't mean you know about them necessarily.
Any bird under 16 weeks with a red comb is a cockerel.
Any bird 12 weeks or older that has pointy saddle feathers is a cockerel.
Birds over 16 weeks that have no male feathering but have red combs, can be female, (since hens develop red combs/waddles when getting close to lay) or they could be slow developing cockerels. (usually this only happens with breeds like Silkies, etc.)
