I have lost 3 chickens since May 9. The first was our roster, 3 weeks later, a cinnamon Queen and 2 weeks after that (today) our other cinnamon queen.
We have been fighting a lice infestation but thought we had that under control as I haven’t seen evidence of lice for 3 weeks. The rooster and the first hen died during the day and seemed to just fall over and die in the middle of the chicken run. They didn’t have any sign of injury nor did they show any sign of illness prior to death.
The hen who died last night died in a nesting box and had her head bent backwards and there was a trickle of red fluid coming out of her mouth, like watery blood but not in great quantity. she also did not show any signs of being sick. Both cinnamon queens have had poopy butts for a while but I thought it was from the lice but it hadn’t cleared up like I thought it would. Anyone have any ideas? I still have 9 other hens that I don’t want to lose but I’m not even sure what is happening to them.
background: the rooster was 10 months old but had health problems when he hatched. The queens were adopted in November and were in rough condition when I got them- they were the ones who brought the lice in. Thanks in advance for any thoughts!!

Without a formal or informal necropsy on the CQ that you lost today, it's pure speculation but that hybrid was bred for high egg production and the cost is often a very short life.

If the cockerel had visible physical problems at hatch, he likely had internal defects you were unaware of.

I would recommend doing a health check on the rest of the flock. Get weights on them, inspect them for parasites again, check crops when the go to roost and again before they get off the roost in the mornings, etc. That should be done on a routine basis regardless.

I’ve lost like 6 or 7 chickens since April 7. Idk what’s happening but all we can do is learn from our mistakes but now I’m more cautious about them, and that’s all you can do as well
