My hens are free-ranging everyday and are given oyster shells as well. But unfortunately I'm still finding eggs pecked and partially eaten every single day... what else should I do to stop this

I had the same problem when my girls started last fall. I took an egg shell, made a small hole (big enough to blow out the egg) , fill with liquid hand soap and seal with clear candle wax or dental wax. I found candle wax is easier. I was sloppy so I suggest putting newspaper or something under neath the egg. After it cools/sets, put the egg back in the coop in the nest box. It may take them a couple of days to peck at it, but it worked like a charm for me. I had golf balls in teh nest boxes when my egg eater appeared.

The taste of the soap will deter them from eating other eggs.. It's worth a try, it worked great for me..

I did one hole about the size of a new pencil eraser and took a toothpick to help get the egg out of the shell.

Here is the link where I posted about this problem.

Awesome, thanks. I'm dealing with a new eggeater right now. Will try the soap. Wish I could watch 'em eat it.

I read somewhere that using, "apple bitter," mixed with something and placed inside a blown out egg works. I had my first egg eater today, so I may just find out myself if it works!
