today woke up to check on my eggs noticed that one of my eggs began to hatch, called the kids to see the egg, and left for a few hours for games and bbqs.we came home and found blood under one of my sitting hens annie. we followed the trail of blood and found it under our main sitting hen nana hen, lifted her up and the baby was flattened like a pancake cold and not breathing. my daughter has decided to take the 2 eggs nana hen was sitting on and raise them, now they should be hatching any day now. how do i prevent this from happening how do you hatch a chick??????????????????????????????????????????

I'm so Sorry. Do you have a incubator? They need to be kept at as close to 99.5 degs F. as possible consistently and humidity needs to be kept at 60-70%. This will be hard without a incubator. That egg/chick may have had other problems and it may not have actually been killed by the hen because hens are usually better at hatching than incubators.
