I have tried some of those over the counter medications without much success. There are of course better drugs available , but only through a veterinary.
I keep Trimidine powder.






At $52 it isn't cheap by the time you ad the vets visit. Upside is it has a long shelf life and can be used on all of our animals, including horses.

From what I understand sulfamethoxazole is strictly an antibiotic, whereas sulfadimethoxide/oxine ( Di-Methox, Albion ) is also an effective anticoccidial drug.

Kathy, SMZ-TMP is the same as Bactrim, and it is used to treat ear and urinary infections in people, along with some respiratory infections. Also coccidiosis, and other infections in chickens.

Lol, not questioning your advice, just wondering how effective it is against cocci. I'll stick with amprolium, cause I know it works. I have been advised to switch to Di-Methox if it doesn't. But as always your posts are very helpful and may ultimately help someone out.
