Hi,

We bought 6 day old chicks last month and immediately found an issue. their was a bloody stool which suggested worms or intestine infection and the chicks faded quickly!! we lost 4 quickly, but 2 survived and have been thriving.

until we put them into their coop the other night (around 6 weeks old). They were tweeting like mad before and after we put them away. Normally they take themselves to bed so it was a bit odd, but not completely out of the ordinary... when we went to let them out, the two had died in the night.

Then 2 days later, one of our 10-12 week old birds in a completely different run (no contact with the others) refused to go into its coop, tweeting like mad. Worried we were in for a repeat we rubbed it in red mite dust and put it to bed. it was alive the next morning, but died the next night!

what the hell is going on?

symptoms: Tweeting, not going to bed, death!

Thanks for any help.

This is probably it.

Coccidiosis

Parasitic Disease
Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract of animals caused by coccidian protozoa. The disease spreads from one animal to another by contact with infected feces or ingestion of infected tissue. Diarrhea, which may become bloody in severe cases, is the primary symptom. Most animals infected with coccidia are asymptomatic, but young or immunocompromised animals may suffer severe symptoms and death.
Treat with corid.
