Do I dust the chicken itself with Sevin dust? I am sorry if that's a stupid question, but I have no idea. Can I use diatomaceous earth for the same thing? I have a huge bag of food grade that I can put all over the coop and the main area where they scratch while they are roaming.
Should I go ahead and dust all chickens? I would really rather use a few chemicals as possible, so if DE has the same indications for use, can stick with sevin for the one and DE for the others.
Next year, for sure, we are getting fly predators. We got one bag for five acres last year, just one, and it made a HUGE difference.
So my plan: clean out the coop again, including washing their nest bos/roost area, spread DE in the coop (which is not completely enclosed), wash the chicken butt, cut off feathers again and apply swat, then dust chicken with DE/sevin dust and DE in the yeard area. Plus hang water-filled ziplocs.
