Get a pressure canner and start putting up rabbit stew, and fill the freezer.

Being a fox I'm sitting here seeing a win/win situation the 'yotes are gone and rabbits are big and fat.

Its not hard to keep rabbits out of the garden with a little effort.I assume you folks are talking cottontail rabbit..? Man they are a good meal..! Are Jack rabbits pretty much restricted to out west..? Anyway, nice job getting that coyote..
They are nothing but trouble when they start getting close to humans and around the farm...

Humans should not be so egocentric. My best advice is, yes "never make the mistake of leaving your birds at risk again", but please do not disturb wild life and the ecosystem balance, if one species exist it's because it is necessary, and trying to chance it will create more problems than advantages. Remember they were there before you and please try to live peacefully with them. I do believe in selection of the stronger, but eradicating/controlling populations is a forced and not correct way of doing it (you will end up killing the healthiest ones that are more active, that are bigger, that move more, the ones that catch more the attention, etc. and that's not how nature works).
Please respect the habitat you live in, without all the animals that may or not appear being an obstacle for your success his beauty would not be the same.
Thanks for reading this.

Great job getting that coyote! The only good coyote is a dead coyote. Around here they have eaten our cats, guineas, ducks, chickens, and almost destroyed the wild turkey population. I can't think of one reason to spare them. We have heard some moving back into our area recently and the hunters are all on the look-out for their dens. There are plenty of other animals that can get the mice and rabbits - yep, I like rabbit stew too!

good job

If you are successful, and want to keep your skills sharp, head on up this way. These coyotes are breeding like rats up here. My brother-in-law's family farm used to be a mecca for pheasant and rabbit hunting. Now even the feral cats are scarce......

You may want to read some history on wildlife in North America. As stated about, Coyote populations have exploded. They have moved into areas where there were none in the past and their numbers have continued to increase over the last few decades. Just about everything, with few exceptions, has increased in number since the 1940. They have also moved into cites and areas where they never existed. There were no Coyotes where I lived until about ten years ago. I saw one eating a cat on the side of the expressway going home several months ago. This is in a suburb that has been developed for over 40 years. The larges wooded area is a block square. Noone is sure where they are living and breeding but their numbers are increasing. It’s illegal to discharge firearms so the only alternative is to trap them. None have been trapped but there have been a few hit and killed by automobiles. Most people around here don’t have a clue and think they are feral dogs.
